Eeg Biofeedback Vs Methylphenidate Treatments On Adhd
Methylphenidate is a stimulant approved for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). There is some evidence that neurofeedback is as effective or more in some areas. A study titled “NM Effectiveness of EEG Biofeedback as Compared with Methylphenidate in the Treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: A Clinical Outcome Study,” found that it improved response inhibition compared to methylphenidate, and was just as effective at increasing intellectual ability. The researchers reported that “EEG biofeedback can significantly improve several behavioral and cognitive functions in children with ADHD, and it might be an alternative treatment for non-responders or incomplete responders to medication as well as for those whose parents favor a non-pharmacological treatment.”
